Graeme North Workshops
Sunday, April 01, 2012 - Sunday, April 01, 2012
Design for local resilience by learning some appropriate technology. This is technology that can be made at an affordable price by ordinary people using local materials to do useful work in ways that do the least possible harm to both human society and the environment.
Date: Sunday April 1, 2012, 9.30am-4.30pm
to be held near Warkworth
Discover the unique and creative potential of natural building. Explore materials and techniques in an intensive, hands-on experience, using a variety of materials focusing on natural clay as a major resource. There will be opportunities to make and use a variety of materials including dense and lightweight mud brick and cob, inclusion of natural fibres such as straw and hemp, and some work with bamboo. We will also touch on earth and lime plastering, earth floors, and discuss strawbales. Numbers are limited to give good opportunities for participation and discussion
