Working on the land
This is a popular and award-winning programme run at Taruna's campus in Hawkes Bay and is designed for people working on the land who cannot afford too much time away. Spread over 35 weeks, the programme includes 3 teaching seminars each spanning eight days, supported by home-based study and application of learning on your own land.
Teaching takes place at Hohepa Farm in Poraiti in Hawkes Bay. Hohepa is one of New Zealand's earliest established and most comprehensive biodynamics/organic farms.
Content includes:
-Principles and process of organic and biodynamic land management;
-A study of 'The Living Soil'
-Plant studies from phenomenological perspective;
-Horticulture, including vegetable, orchard and vineyard production;
-Animal husbandry, including dairy farming;
-Trees and their integration into the farm;
-Biodynamic preparations;
-Astrology and working on the land with astrological rhythm;
-Organic and biodynamic production certification.
