Calling all Ecological Film Makers
Friday, August 08, 2008
We need film makers to produce short video clips about the 10 SHAC teams around the country who are building practical, well-designed housing over the coming year.
SHAC 09 is a national competition that will show New Zealand how practical, well-designed housing can help us all live more sustainably today. Ten teams of students, academics and professionals are working today around the country to design and build ten more sustainable homes by October 2009.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
We need film makers to help tell each team's story by producing a series of four 2-3 minute short video clips to be shown on the Ecobob.co.nz web site.
Carthew Neal, the producer of the popular eco series WA$TED!, will offer mentoring for selected videographers. A half day meet and greet will be held in late August in Auckland (others Skype video calls can be made to those in other locations). Short 2-3 min films tracking team progress over the next year and a half will be distributed via the Ecobob.co.nz web site. Carthew will stay in touch with the filmmakers throughout the project, assessing scripts and commenting on rough clips uploaded before they are finalised.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Students and recent graduates who have a basic grasp of scripting, camera, editing work. Mentoring will be predominantly on storytelling rather than basic production skills. You will arrange with the SHAC team coordinator to document the design and building process. We would prefer to work with people who are able to commit to creating one clip every three months until October 2009.
